I was born in San Francisco and graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a Bachelors of Art in English and Sociology in June 2022. Specific research interests during my undergraduate career include monster literature (specifically vampires!), queerxtrans familybuilding, and journalism for Indigenous reservations in Northern California. With this social justice-oriented academic background, I am looking to obtain a Masters in Library and Information Science. I'm glad to have USFCA be a part of that journey!
I served at Shields Library as a Student Mentor at UC Davis during my undergrad and am delighted to continue academic library work as the Evening/Weekend Library Assistant at Gleeson Library starting October 2022. All my work is informed by my background as a queer Filipino in an immigrant family; I practice activism efforts for marginalized people in BIPOC, queerxtrans, and disabled communities and aim to bring this advocacy into my librarianship.
My academic interests include queer theory and monster literature as exemplified in my undergraduate thesis "Queer Liminality in Le Fanu's Carmilla." My personal interests include sewing, cosplay, and fandom history/culture. You will often find me doing sloppy choreography to showtunes, loredumping my embarrassing amount of Disney trivia, or showing off my beloved black cat Donovan.
