Laptops are available for checkout and desktop computers are ready for use in our labs.

Laptop computers are available for checkout at the Library Help Desk.

  • Who Can Borrow: Undergraduate Students Graduate Students Doctoral Students
    • Laptops are not available for checkout to faculty, staff, law students, or special borrowers.
  • Loan Period: 24 hours
    • Laptops cannot be renewed.

MAC Laptop

  • Software — Includes Adobe Acrobat Reader, Audacity, Firefox, Google Chrome, iMovie, Lockdown Browser, Microsoft Suite, Safari, Sophos, Zoom, Zotero
  • Note — Additional software cannot be installed

  • Note — Additional software cannot be installed

Borrowing Policies

Laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Library Help Desk.

  • Only currently registered undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students with a valid USF OneCard and no library holds may check out laptops.
  • Faculty, staff, law students, and special borrowers are not eligible.
  • Laptops may be borrowed for 24 hours.
  • Only one laptop may be checked out per person.
  • Laptops cannot be renewed.
  • Laptops and power chargers must be returned in person to an Access Services staff member.
  • Do not place laptops in the book return chute.
  • Overdue fines for laptops are $5.00 per hour, with no maximum limit.
  • A power charger (cord and block) is included and must be returned. Overdue or lost chargers are subject to replacement fees.
  • Borrowers are financially responsible for:
    • Loss, theft, or damage
    • Repair or replacement costs (up to $1,600)
  • Laptops must be returned in the same condition as received.
  • Gleeson Library may deny borrowing privileges due to past misuse.
  • Never leave laptops unattended.
  • Do not modify system files.
  • Save your work externally (USB drive or cloud storage). Files saved to the laptop will be automatically erased.
  • If you experience any issues, immediately notify the Library Help Desk.
