Document Delivery

Request articles, books, videos, and more from Gleeson Library and other libraries.

Interlibrary Loan via ILLiad

Interlibrary loan is a free service that allows eligible USF community members to request items not available at Gleeson Library from libraries across the country and around the world. Use your Interlibrary Loan account in ILLiad to request:

  • Electronic (PDF) articles, and book chapters from other libraries
  • Scans and PDF delivery of articles and book chapters from Gleeson Library

Borrowing Policies

Currently enrolled USF students, staff, faculty, emeriti faculty, and Fromm affiliates may use the Interlibrary Loan service.

If you are a USF Law School student, staff member, or faculty member, please use Zief Library's ILL service.

Electronic items (i.e. PDFs of articles, book chapters, etc.) are delivered within 1-3 business days of your request.

  • Some nursing articles and other electronic documents may turn around in 24 hours.

Most books and other physical items arrive at Gleeson Library within 5-15 business days.

We always try to obtain Interlibrary Loan materials free of charge.

For the foreseeable future, Gleeson Library will continue to cover costs up to $15 per request for currently enrolled USF students and $35 per request for full time and part time faculty. If you are willing to pay more than what USF covers, please indicate the maximum amount you can pay on the request form.

Physical items

Due dates on physical items are set by the lending libraries. A blue book band noting your name, date the book is due, and Interlibrary Loan transaction number is attached to the front of each book. Please return the book with the blue book band intact.

Electronic documents (PDFs)

Requested articles are delivered to your ILLiad mailbox, and the PDFs remain available in ILLiad for one month. Be sure to download articles within 30 days. We will email you with a link to the article in PDF format. To view your requested article, go to your ILLiad account and look under Electronically Received Articles.

Charges for lost or damaged materials are individually based on the lending library's fees.
