Page & Pickup

booksGleeson Library | Geschke Center offers a paging service for our patrons. If you would like to check out a library book, but do not have time to find it, you may request that we retrieve the book from our shelves and hold it at the Gleeson Circulation Desk for you.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Click the "Request" button at the top of the item’s record in Ignacio.
  2. Enter your myUSF login and click "Submit."
  3. Make sure the "Pickup Location" button is filled in and "Gleeson Circ Desk" is selected in the dropdown list. (Sorry, the "Mail" option is only available to USF Faculty members.) Entering a "Cancel if not filled by" date is optional. Click "Submit."
  4. You should receive a confirmation on screen.

Gleeson Library | Geschke Center Staff will page the book you requested and put it on hold for you at the library by 5 pm on the day after your place your request. The library will send you an email notification when the book you requested is ready to be picked up.

Who can place a page?

Anyone who can check out items from Gleeson Library | Geschke Center can place a page request.

When and how can I place a page request?

You can place a page request online at any time by using the "Request" button located in the top portion of an item’s record in Ignacio, the library’s catalog. See below for step by step instructions.

What items can I have paged?

You can request that we page most Gleeson Library | Geschke Center items. Sorry, we cannot page journals or periodicals, items from the Rare Book Room, Reserves, Law Stacks, or other non-circulating items (i.e.: items whose status reads "On Search," "Missing," or "Bindery").

What if the item is checked out?

If the item is checked out, you can still use the "Request" link or button. We will recall the item from the patron who has it checked out. When the item is returned, we will notify you that it is ready to be picked up. We will keep the item on hold at the Gleeson Circulation Desk for you for 10 days.

How many items can I request to be paged at once?

You are allowed to request ten items per day. If you request more than ten items per day, we will only page ten items and cancel any additional requests.

How long will it take to process my request?

Most requests will be filled by 5pm on the day after you place your request. (Example: If you request an item at 2pm on Monday, we will make every effort to have your item available by 5pm on Tuesday. If you request an item at 3pm on Sunday, we will make every effort to have your item available by 5pm on Monday).

How will you notify me when my item is ready?

The library will send you an email notification when the book you requested is ready to be picked up at the Circulation Desk. We will also notify you if your request is cancelled. Requests maybe cancelled by library staff for a variety of reasons, not limited to: the item can't be located in the library, the item cannot be checked out to you, or you have exceeded your ten item request limit. View your library record to make sure the email we have on file for you is correct.

How long will the item be held for me?

The library will hold paged items for you for 10 days, beginning on the date you receive our email notification that your request is ready to be picked up.

Where do I pickup my items?

Pick up your items and check them out at the Circulation Desk of Gleeson Library | Geschke Center. A university ID is required for all check-outs, and ID privileges are non-transferable.
