Linking in Canvas
A link to a faculty’s Course Reserves page can be added on the Home page, Syllabus section, or Modules section.
- On the course Home page click on the Edit this Page button on the top right.
- In the text box, enter the name of the page (for example “Library Reserves Page”), next highlight the word, then click on the chain link icon in the formatting bar at the top of the text box.
- Enter the web address of your Course Reserves page in the pop up window, then click on the Insert Link button. You will see a yellow highlight and then text will turn blue, signifying that it is now a link.
- Click on the Save Changes button on the bottom of the page to complete the changes to the page. Note: The link will be green.
- On the course page, click on Syllabus in the left navigation and then click on the Edit Syllabus Description button, the first item in the right hand column.
- In the text box, enter the name of the page (for example “Library Reserves Page”), next highlight the word, and then click on the chain link icon in the formatting bar at the top of the text box.
- Enter the web address of your Course Reserves page in the pop up window, then click on the Insert Link button. You will see a yellow highlight and then text will turn blue, signifying that it is now a link.
- Click on the Update Syllabus button on the bottom of the page to complete the change to the page. Note: The link will be green.
- On the course page, click on Modules in the left navigation and then click on the gear icon in the far right of the module and select +Add Content.
- Click on the drop down menu next to Add and select External URL
- Enter the web address of your Course Reserves page in the URL field and then enter the name of the page (for example “Library Reserves Page”) in the Page Name field then click on the Add Item button on the bottom.
- A link will appear under the module. Links are represented with a chain link icon next to the link. Students will be able to click on the link to get to your course Reserves page.
