ProQuest Ebook Central Academic Complete (Subscription) Cancellation

Introduction

The ProQuest Ebook Central: Academic Complete subscription database will be cancelled effective Feb. 1, 2025. Access will remain to over 400 purchased ProQuest ebooks and the library will continue to subscribe to the EBSCO eBook Academic Subscription Collection

This cancellation won't effect any of our other ProQuest databases.

Check Status

To determine if an ebook you use for teaching or research is affected by this cancellation, follow these the below steps. If a title you rely on—such as assigned readings for your courses—is impacted, please notify your library liaison promptly. Gleeson Library may be able to provide alternative access to frequently used ebooks.

Here are the recommended steps:

  1. Go to Ignacio and search by title for the ebook.
  2. In the Ignacio record for the book, look at the "Available online" box in the center of the record.
  3. If the only link you see is for "ProQuest Ebook Central Academic Complete (subscription)" and there are no additional links to other ebook versions, the library’s access to that ebook will end on February 1, 2025. Here's an example:
  4. Please reach out to your liaison to notify them that you are hoping to obtain an alternate ebook version of that same title, or if you have any questions.
  5. While Gleeson Library can't guarantee that an alternate ebook version of the same title is available, we will look into acquiring it for the library. If no ebook version is available, a print copy may be an alternative.

Access to Bookmarks and Notes

Starting February 1, 2025, any ProQuest ebooks from the Academic Complete subscription that you’ve saved or annotated will remain on your ProQuest Ebook Central bookshelf. While you will no longer be able to access and read subscription ebooks, you may still export bookmarks and notes that you’ve created. Please note that highlights will not be viewable as the ebooks themselves will be unavailable.

Linking to ebooks in Canvas

In cases where the liaison has obtained an alternate version of an ebook, please note that the link may have changed. Refer to the Using Permalinks Guide to link to the book in Canvas.
