Distinct Doncore functions are identified below. Equivalent or alternate functionality in Ignacio and Fusion is provided if available.

Searching and Sorting Results

Facets

The Doncore interface offers advanced filters that dynamically update search results.

Doncore Facets and their Ignacio and Fusion Counterparts

Recent searches

A list of recent searches automatically generates in the footer of the Doncore interface during a session.

Ignacio

Available. A search history dropdown appears at the top of Ignacio during a session.

Fusion

Available in Fusion interface. Fusion automatically generates a list of search history during a session.

Recently viewed

A list of recently viewed items automatically generates in the footer of the Doncore interface during a session.

Ignacio

Not available. As an alternative, you can perform a manual process to either download or email a list of records:

  1. Click Add to Book Bag (in search results) or Save Record (in item view).
  2. Click View Saved.
  3. Select record(s) to save individually or click Select All.
  4. Select preferred Format of List.
  5. Select preferred Send List To.
  6. Click Submit.

Fusion

Not available. As an alternative, you can perform a manual process to save items to a folder.

Saving Records and Previewing Content

Export to Refworks

Doncore’s Export to RefWorks tool is an option to export bibliographic information directly to RefWorks.

Ignacio

Available as a manual process: you can export a text file from Ignacio then import it into RefWorks.

In Ignacio:

  1. Search for an item.
  2. Click Add to Book Bag (in search results) or Save Record (in item view).
  3. Click View Saved.
  4. Select EndNote/Refworks under Format of List column.
  5. Choose how the file is delivered: via email or download to local disc.

In RefWorks:

  1. Select Add, then Import References.
  2. Under the Import from a File menu, drag the file or select it from your computer.
  3. A pop up will appear.
  4. Type “Innovative Interfaces” in the import box and select USF from drop down.

Another option is to use the Save to RefWorks browser extension.

Fusion

Available. Use the Export Manager tool and select Direct Export to RefWorks.

Email record

Doncore offers an option to email a link (with bibliographic information) directly from a record.

Ignacio record

  1. Click Save Record.
  2. Click View Saved.
  3. Select record(s) to email individually or click Select All.
  4. Select Format of List.
  5. In Send List To, enter your email address and custom subject line.
  6. (Note: you can also save records to your local machine, which produces a .txt file)
  7. Click Submit.

Fusion record

  1. Click E-mail.
  2. Enter email address(es), subject, comments
  3. Select Format.
  4. Click Send. 

OR 

  1. Save to folder.
  2. Open folder.
  3. Select item(s).
  4. Click Email. 
  5. Continue as above.

Note: You can save default settings for export. In the top menu bar, click Preferences.

Google Books preview

Doncore offers a Google Books preview popup in some item records.

Ignacio

Not available.

Fusion

Not available. The library is investigating how to offer this in Fusion.

Managing Your Library Account

Community tags

Doncore offers community tags as a way for users to compile lists of resources.

Ignacio

Not available.

Fusion

Not available. As an alternative, you can create and share a folder of resources, but you need to provide a list of recipients.

Log in to Library account

The ability for patrons to log in to their library account to renew books, pay fines, etc.

Ignacio

Available. Patrons login by selecting a login option at the top of the Ignacio pages AND when they request items.

Fusion

Not available. USF catalog items that appear in Fusion have a link to “View in Catalog,” which takes the patron to the item in Ignacio where they can place a request.
