Developing a Research Question
The goal of this series is to help you develop research questions, narrow or broaden your scope, identify key concepts, and find where to search for more information.
Brainstorming
In this video, we’ll look at ways that you can brainstorm topics for your research.
Narrowing Your Topics
After brainstorming, you may find that you have a long list of possible topics and can’t seem to settle on one. For our next research step, we will narrow down your list into one central research topic.
Topic Mapping
Now that you have your research topic narrowed down, it’s time to come up with a question. To do that, we’ll perform an exercise called Topic Mapping.
Asking, "So What?"
An important part of research is articulating the wider significance of a topic – in other words, the “So what?”
