Library Materials Budget
The Gleeson library materials acquisition budget has been negatively impacted for the last several fiscal years due to a combination of university reallocation measures and the rising cost of scholarly publications, and this situation has been further exacerbated by the effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic and the current economic climate. The chart below illustrates the erosion of our buying power since FY15-16. While we have regained some funding through budget assists and adjustments, we are still below FY16 levels.
As a result of these financial challenges, the library has canceled several databases, individual journal titles, and electronic journal packages. Additionally, print and electronic book purchases and a select number of subscriptions which are critical to teaching and learning continue to be paid from restricted endowment funds.
